Welcome to our blog series, Meet Asana Design, where we feature members of the Asana Design team.

(Left) Kritika Kushwaha, Product Designer for Asana

Why are you in design?

I studied Computer Science where I learnt to appreciate the power of logic but missed creative expression. So, I went on to study English Literature and fell in love with Sociology and Psychology, but found it limiting to impact people with words alone, especially in my home country where ninety percent of the population doesn’t speak English. It was then that I decided to study Design for its impact through the amalgamation of visuals, words, logical and creative thinking. And I’ve been a designer ever since!

What’s your day-to-day like as an Asana Design team member?

Every day at work is a unique one. When not in front of Figma or the whiteboard, you’ll find me spending time with the Design team during critiques and jams, collaborating with my program teams, and doing knowledge-sharing syncs with our cross-functional partners. But it doesn’t end there at Asana. Our week is sprinkled with team lunches, games, Show and Tells, and really enlightening talks that I always look forward to!

Who or what inspires you?

Everything in our lives — from social constructs, to the objects we use, to our own motivations — is either designed or a response to a design. Mindful design is still in its infancy and there are many opportunities for good design to rise up and give guidance. I’m consistently inspired by conscious creators who address and bridge gaps in the human experience in their fields to create more positive and sustainable social, cultural, economic, and industrial experiences.
