Welcome to our blog series, Meet Asana Design, where we feature members of the Asana Design team.

Jina Anne, Design Manager for Design System; Asana Design

Why are you in design?

I originally got into design because it was a way to channel my creative and artistic energy toward a way to make money! But over the course of my career, I developed a passion for solving problems and delivering great experiences. I also have a bit of UI engineering in my background, but design always felt most home for me.

What’s your day-to-day like as an Asana Design team member?

As a Design Manager for the Design System team, I’m working with cross-disciplinary teams and stakeholders to elevate our quality, craft, and collaboration. I also champion best practices for design systems through what I’ve learned over the course of my career and from the community. And of course, as a manager, I’m spending time with the designers on my team to work with them on their own growth and success.

Who or what inspires you?

I am very inspired by mid-century graphic standards manuals. I have a collection of reprints of various ones from NASA, NYCTA, the British Rail, and more. A lot of what we do in today’s context of digital-focused design systems is rooted in the early design systems of those times. It’s good to go back to the basics and learn from the early pioneers!
