Welcome to our blog series, Meet Asana Design, where we feature members of the Asana Design team.

Cici Chen, Product Designer for Asana

Why are you in design?

I started my journey with visual art and handcrafting when I was little, influenced by my grandpa’s art spirit. I then chose to go with graphic design in college, which opened the design world to me. I naturally elongated that passion for user experience design and became obsessed with the idea of problem solving. I love that product design combines both visual crafting and problem solving, so I can improve people’s day-to-day life with my skills.

What’s your day-to-day like as an Asana Design team member?

I am working with a fun team and learning new things every day at Asana!
We pretty much live in Asana for our day-to-day work, investigating new experience opportunities for our users. I often collaborate with the team or take “heads down” time for idea crafting; those are the main activities for my day-to-day work. We also like to have fun — happy hours and team hangouts are where I go to recharge myself and meet new people. Asana Design is an energetic team, and I didn’t expect joining a team remotely could be this much fun.

Who or what inspires you?

I love talking to our customers for inspiration on our product design, our product mission, and new perspectives on work and life. At work, my team is where I go for new ideas, feedback, and critique. Also, as a new Asana (Asana is what we call ourselves), I am continuously learning from collaborations with my team in design, product, and engineering, among other disciplines. Also, I often learn from life sketching, meditation, and time with friends and families.
