Welcome to our new blog series, Meet Asana Design, where we feature members of the Asana Design team.

Andrew Rose, Product Designer for Asana

Why are you in design?

I work in design to learn about people and improve their lives with what skills I have, while picking up new skills along the way. It’s stimulating, empowering, sometimes frustrating, and always rewarding. It’s so much fun to get lost in imagining solutions and helping to bring them to life. I’ve always loved making things, and this career is my way of contributing to the creation of amazing things that I couldn’t create on my own.

What’s your day-to-day like as an Asana Design team member?

I spend my days at Asana learning about our current and prospective users, and advocating for them in the all of the decisions made by our teams. I get to interface with incredibly talented peers from all backgrounds and disciplines to help our customers achieve their goals. Within the design team here, I’m constantly ideating, creating, critiquing, writing, presenting and persuading. I try my best to sharpen the work of my teammates while allowing my own work to benefit from the unique perspectives of others.

Who or what inspires you?

At work, I’m inspired by the missions of some of Asana’s customers. It’s a privilege to be able to contribute in some small way to their success. I’m also inspired by my teammates–I’m constantly in a position to learn from the experiences of my team from design, product and engineering, among other disciplines. On a more personal level, I’m inspired by my partner, a health care worker who has weathered so much uncertainty during this pandemic while caring for those who need it most.
